Indiana Filmmakers Network Inc. (IFN)<\/strong> is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) educational charitable organization committed to supporting film, media, theater, and the cinematic arts across the state of Indiana. First conceived for a one-time event in 1996, and later established in late 1998 as an on-going grassroots initiative in Indianapolis, IFN began as a small, passionate group of area professionals dedicated to fostering connection, learning, and collaboration among local filmmakers and creatives. In 2008, a new board of directors was formed, expanding the organization\u2019s vision and outreach. This led to the gradual development of additional hubs and affiliates throughout the state.<\/span><\/p>

Over the past 25 years, IFN has grown into one of the Midwest\u2019s most influential film and media collectives. In 2016, the organization underwent a formal rebranding and was officially incorporated as a nonprofit, solidifying its commitment to long-term growth and service to Indiana\u2019s creative communities.<\/span><\/p>

Today, IFN connects and supports more than 13,000 filmmakers, artists, actors, and media professionals through social media, alongside a core of hundreds of dues-paying members who actively participate in and benefit from IFN\u2019s programs, services, and collaborative environment. IFN is best sustained by you!<\/span><\/p>

The organization embraces all forms of cinematic storytelling\u2014from narrative and documentary filmmaking to theater, media arts, music, and digital content creation. IFN\u2019s mission is to provide Indiana creatives with the tools, knowledge, and network they need to bring their visions to life. Through workshops, networking opportunities, educational events, and statewide collaborations, IFN serves as a launchpad for emerging talent and a platform for industry veterans alike.<\/span><\/p>

In 2022, IFN was honored by <\/span>SAG-AFTRA Chicago<\/b> as one of the largest cinematic arts collectives in the Midwest\u2014an acknowledgment of both its reach and its impact. IFN has also been invited by neighboring state governments to advise on the development of similar grassroots creative communities, further cementing its role as a leader in regional arts advancement.<\/span><\/p>

Far more than just an online community, IFN is a dynamic nonprofit dedicated to the advancement of the cinematic arts in Indiana.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Hosted at Indiana University and presented in partnership with Women in Film (WIF), Women in Media (WIM), Alliance of Women Directors (AWD), and the Indiana Conference for Women, this program spotlighted women-identifying creatives through panels, mentorships, screenings, and workshops. Topics included directing, producing, screenwriting, cinematography, and gender equity in film. The Ones<\/b><\/p>

An intimate human library-style mentorship program where creators could book one-on-one sessions with seasoned professionals across various fields. Hosted in partnership with institutions like WFYI, Marian University, <\/span>University of Indianapolis, SIGGRAPH, WIF, <\/span>\u00a0and the Indianapolis Public Library.<\/span><\/p>

Concept to Distribution<\/b><\/p>

A step-by-step education track guiding filmmakers through the entire production process\u2014from script development to marketing and distribution strategies. Developed in-partnership with NWI Film.<\/span><\/p>

Indiana PA Bootcamp<\/b><\/p>

This intensive training program introduced participants to the role of a production assistant and the broader ecosystem of a working film set. After a pandemic pause, the bootcamp was revived in 2022 due to continued demand. Look for it in 2026!<\/span><\/p>

Indy Pitch Clinic<\/b> (2015\u2013Present)<\/span><\/i><\/p>

An ongoing professional development event giving filmmakers, writers, and producers the chance to hone their pitch skills in front of industry professionals. Expanded in 2025 with partners such as Indy Film Fest, Kan-Kan Cinema, The Film IT Project, INSPIREsmall.BIZ, and Robert\u2019s Camera, <\/span>Livingroom Theatre, Studio Nethercott, Alamo Drafthouse, The Box Media Production Space, and more.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The Indiana Filmmakers Network was initially established in 1998 by a coalition of film and media professionals, in collaboration with the <\/span>Indiana Film Commission<\/b>, to offer networking opportunities and support for emerging filmmakers. Since then, IFN has consistently expanded its reach, growing from a small group into an influential statewide network with multiple hubs and affiliates across Indiana.<\/span><\/p>

In 2008, a new board formed and the <\/span>Indiana Film Database<\/b> was created, marking the beginning of a more formalized organizational structure. Over the years, IFN has expanded its footprint across the state, offering educational programs, partnering with major industry events, and facilitating growth within the local film community.<\/span><\/p>

Despite challenges\u2014including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic\u2014IFN has continued to innovate and adapt, launching new initiatives such as the <\/span>Independent Cinematic Arts Network (ICAN)<\/b>, <\/span>Project: Hindsight<\/b> (an IFN podcast), and <\/span>new film funds<\/b> to support the next generation of filmmakers.
